Celebrate Your Senior with These 5 Graduation Party Tricks

The school year is coming to a close and that means graduation is around the corner, but what is a graduation without a party to celebrate it? Follow these 5 tips to help you throw a stress free and fun graduation party for your favorite senior.

1. Choose a Theme

First things first – figure out what you want your graduation party to look like. It is important to pick your theme first because the rest of the party will be an extension of that. Do you want a backyard fiesta, fancy dinner party, college colors, or sports?  Whatever you choose, try to pick something that reflects the graduate's personality or interests, and don't overthink it! Look for little accents that bring the theme to life. Going with a backyard fiesta theme? Get bright flowers, cactus glitter confetti, or mini piñatas for the catering table.

2. Send out Invitations Early

Once you have the theme for the graduation party it is time to alert yours guests! Graduations typically happen within a short window, so time is of the essence. Pick your date and get it on everyone’s calendar before they book up. You can find invitations online for virtually any theme, or skip the stamps and send an Evite, which is a great way to save time and money. Let your guests know if you’ll be serving a full meal or just snacks.... and then see point three for our tip on stress free graduation party catering.

3. Cater Fan Favorite Food

When it comes to the menu, make it easy, delicious, and a crowd favorite. Setting up a self-serve food station or having the party catered is the perfect way for guests to get what they want and you aren't stuck in the kitchen for the whole party. Fajita Pete's catering is a great option because who doesn't love a delicious Tex-Mex bar? Also, we've never met a teenager that didn't love queso! Or an adult for that matter. Fajita Pete's catering will deliver, set up, and take down so you are able to sit back, relax, and enjoy your party with one of their famous Pete's Ritas in hand. The RSVP is always yes to Fajita Pete's.

4. Plan an Activity

You have the friends, catering, and drinks covered. Now, let’s make sure your graduation party is a fiesta not a siesta. Keep the party going with special games or an activity. Here are five ideas to keep your party popping:

  1. Trivia game about the graduate. Make sure to have small prizes for the winners.
  2. Photo Booth area or Selfie Station. Talk with your graduate about a fun hashtag to use for this area.
  3. Yard games like cornhole, life size Jenga, or ring toss.
  4. Make a music playlist. Think of interactive songs like The Cupid Shuffle or classic crowd pleasers like YMCA. Add some throw backs from when you were in school, too. Hey, you’re throwing this party!
  5. A unique gift for the grad that guests can take part in such as a grad guest book, large frame to sign, or a senior video.

5. Keep it Simple

Sometimes, as parents, we tend to think more is more when it comes to celebrating our children. And while graduation is no small achievement and deserves a party accordingly, it is important to focus on what matters most....the special moments together. Follow the tips above and you will be sure to have a successful, stress free graduation party that they’ll remember for years to come!
